A Level 1 Rights Respecting School

Rationale

At Dalry Primary School we believe in the importance of developing and maintaining a positive Rights Respecting ethos and celebrating success, no matter how small.

Our Class and Whole School Charters demonstrate the following:

  • All children and young people have the right to an education, which should be free.  Discipline in schools should respect children’s human dignity.  Young people should be encouraged to reach the highest level of education that they are capable of (Article 28 and 29)
  • Children have a right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinion taken into account (Article 12 and 13)

This Rights Respecting ethos is achievable when positive relationships with children, parents and families are built and maintained and when positive behaviour strategies are in place.  We are currently developing a new rights-based positive relationships strategy and are working towards our Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Status.
